    Hi everyone.

What is the best ‘post a comment’ plugin or extention?

I’ve seen on a few sites that they have a ‘post a comment’ section directly under their posts with fields such as ‘name, email address, website, comment.’

    It looks very convenient.

Mine are completely hidden and it takes you to some registration page which I find highly inconvenient for people. It will make readers less likely to leave a comment as they need to jump from page to page in order to register or login.

    Currently, you will see this:

“You must be logged in to post a comment.”

I’d like to replace it with something similar to this (scroll to the bottom):

I’d prefer to avoid comment spam altogether. Is there a ‘post a comment’ type of system which includes a non-annoying CAPTCHA?

Thats not a function of a plugin

In your case, you have your blog set up so that people need to register to comment, consequently they are prompted to register prior to being able to comment. Doesnt that follow from what you just said?

I’d like to replace it with something similar to this …

Then turn off “users must register before leaving a comment”

    Thanks for replying.

Well, how would I go about enabling this then?

consequently they are prompted to register prior to being able to comment.

Yes, but I really don’t care if they have to register. I’d like people to be able to make a quick post while avoiding spam through CAPTCHA like security measures.

Then turn off “users must register before leaving a comment”

I’ll give it a shot and see what nasty things happen.

    Thanks…

This whole thing still begs the question,
“What is the best ‘post a comment’ plugin or extension?” You said it is not a plugin but I’ve seen plugins for WP that alter ‘post a comment.’

Hey thanks again – I’ve disabled the registration to comment and I noticed that my website now populates a few fields that I wanted.

I’m also going to install a few additional security measures to fight spam.

    Thanks!!!

    youre welcome ?? ..

when I said what you were describing isnt a function of a plugin, I was referring specifically to what you mentioned..

    ‘name, email address, website, comment.’

As you just discovered, thats normal WP behaviour.

You can add to those fields, put in a captcha, etc.. Those would be a result of plugins.
