I have my personal music site. curtsassakmusic.com

Problem is, the picture is only a few inches wide, and I want a picture that goes all the way across the screen

Also, part of my header is cut off from the picture

Any help in correcting these would be grateful

  • You need to take a picture with a digital camera that supports a high resolution of say at least 1920 pixels in width. It must be in landscape mode, not portrait mode. An example is something like this.

The viewing distance between you and the camera will be a factor. You won’t be able to have it zoomed in on your face to make this work. It has to be a picture of you farther away from the camera just like in those cars.

The image will have to be cropped height wise so that when placed in your web page, it won’t dominate the entire space of the page as it will serve as a header. Don’t forget that not only people who view your website will be seeing it on a desktop computer monitor but also on smaller devices like an iPad or cell phone.

Thus, you need to have an appropriate theme chosen that has responsive content sizing built in.

With the example with the cars, the camera will have to be moved even farther back if this were to be used in a web page header because the image will than have to be modified by a photo image editor like Photoshop and resized to fit in the page. That means you will be much smaller in the photo, unlike the image you posted.

Get someone to take the picture of you at various distances away from you, say every 10 feet and find which one will work the best after you edit it for you web page.

Hope you get a sense of what I mean.
