Nice! Leave it to PayPal to add stuff to a deprecated list on 4th of July weekend. Aren’t they awesome? ??

Your app should still work just fine, deprecated doesnt mean “wont work” deprecated means “phasing this out”. We’ve known PayPal was upgrading their systems, this is the first notice of it. We’ll always keep WC Vendors current, so you should never experience any disruptions of service as a result of it.

Yes, true, but my app was also rejected ??

What was the reason it was rejected? Was it due to deprecation?

I think so as PayPal was not clear about this.

I have now re-submited the application without those deprecated features.

Will let you know if they will approve this now.

    This is the reason:

Thank you for contacting PayPal’s Application Review Team.

With Instant Chained Payments, sellers or service providers are the primary receiver since they receive the majority of the customer’s payment and are usually responsible for order fulfillment. As the merchant of record, the primary receiver is liable for issuing refunds as needed and resolving any chargebacks. As the secondary receiver and platform owner, you would receive any fees or commissions charged to the customer.

In order to update your app submission, please amend your selections in the ‘Services Used by App’ – ‘Adaptive Payments’ – ‘Chained Payments’ area of the submission form and indicate who will be the primary and secondary receiver(s). Please note: You will need to click the App Name in the ‘My Applications’ area in order to expand and edit the fields of your submission form. If you would like additional information on Classic APIs, please refer to the following webpage: https://developer.paypal.com/docs/classic/adaptive-payments/integration-guide/APIntro/

Thank you for your time and patience. I look forward to hearing from you.

How should I set up those fields(Primaary and secondary receiver?)

Chained payments is not what you need. We do not support chained payments. You want Parallel Pay, and you want the vendor to be the primary receiver. (as outlined in our KB article)

Look at the top of the KB article ??

API selection: select parallel payment but don’t check “chained payment”

    I see ??

Let’s wait for approval then ??

We fired off a few emails to PayPal asking them to clarify on their new deprecated notices. Usually they do reply to us since we’re one of their developers. If I get any news on this I’ll update you here, please do the same with respect to your AP account approval process. ??

    Cheers

This is PayPal’s official reply regarding deprecation. Short answer: It isnt going anywhere, you can ignore it.

Apologize for any confusion in terminology. As we make our Adaptive Platform features available in our newer products, we are beginning to strongly encourage development using our newer products and discourage development using our Adaptive Platform product. We are only deprecating (discouraging use) these features in Adaptive Platform. There are NO current plans to sunset (stop supporting) these features in Adaptive Platform.

We are working on related updates to our Adaptive Platform documentation.
    Thanks,
    Xiaolei
