• Hello,

I’ve gathered thus far that Express Checkout does not support the PayPal shipping calculator. That said, is there a way have woocommerce delay the shipping selection until after PayPal returns a shipping address so that I might charge different rates for international shipping? Or perhaps there is another way to accomplish this without having to use PaymentS Standard?

    Thanks,
    Torin

Yes, that is how Express Checkout works with our plugin. The user clicks to pay with checkout, they’re sent over to PayPal where they login and choose their address, and they are then returned to a review page on your site where they would be presented with shipping/tax pricing based on the address returned by PayPal.

Thanks for the speedy response! Perhaps I have something set up incorrectly then. As of now, the user is presented with a choice of domestic or international shipping rates before being sent off to PayPal. Once the user is redirected back to the site, they are merely shown the information they entered previously, and I haven’t yet found anything that allows me to skip the select shipping method part and instead calculate shipping based on the address returned from PayPal. Am I missing something obvious here?

Are you sure you have our PayPal Express Checkout gateway enabled and not just the PayPal Standard that comes with WooCommerce?

We have had ongoing problem with Paypal Express NOT charging shipping. After more than a month of losing shipping charges we’ve disabled paypal express and have to suggest others do the same and reverted to just paypal. The only way Paypal Express will charge shpping is if you force customers to have accounts which means there’s an address on file that can used to calculate shipping BEFORE the customer goes to Paypal Express.

It would be nice to have some support on this issue, but it seems users have had to troubleshoot this on their own to figure it out.

I’m afraid your information is false. Forcing customers to have accounts is NOT the only way to charge shipping. We have 20k+ active installs of this plugin, and very few reports of anything like this going on. Each time we have seen it, it’s been because of plugin or theme conflicts.

Also, I respond to tickets much more quickly than most, so I don’t know why you would say you’re not getting any support.

If you want help figuring out what’s going on I’d be happy to, but please don’t be posting information that is simply false. That doesn’t do anybody any good.

thank you for responding. We’ve been trying to resolve this issue for quite some time.

Since the updates this summer, “guests” are taken to paypal express BEFORE shipping is charged. there is not an opportunity that returns them to finalize a purchase. We have entered tickets with this problem but none were resolved… same with forum postings. We use the X Theme and everything worked fine until paypal express became FREE.
If you can figure out the problem, we’d love to use paypal express .. in the meantime, in order to not lose any more money we have only two options:
    1. Force all shoppers to register an account with us (no guests) or..
    2. Disable paypal express and enable paypal.

Have you any suggestions? and no, we do not have shipping turned on in paypal.

I do not have any past due tickets and I don’t see any forum threads I’ve missed. Can you provides links to those please?

When using Express Checkout the system does not know their shipping address (assuming the EC button was used from the product page, cart page, or the top of the checkout) until after they are returned from PayPal.

When they are returned, they will be presented with a review page where it will break down their shipping options and tax calculations based on the address they selected from their PayPal account.

Our plugin has ALWAYS been free, so it sounds like you’re referring to the Express Checkout plugin provided by Woo. We are not Woo. We are Angell EYE, and our “PayPal for WooCommerce” plugin that you’re posting in now supports Express Checkout and a lot of other PayPal products. It supports it better than the Woo product does, and our support is better, too.

I don’t think you’ve been using our plugin. I would recommend that you do, though, and then you won’t have any problems.
