    Hi,

Can someone explain what determines if a post is related? I’m testing a new site and I have a few pages and posts created.

On all pages a few of the posts appear, but I do not know what is causing them to show up as a related post. The content is “Lorem Ipsum” dummy copy. Category is “unlisted” on all posts.

In the setting I have a list of ID’s that I want to exclude from the Related posts, which are the Page ID’s and a Custom 404 page. All other settings are default, except for the thumbnail size.

    Thank you in advance!

OK — I’m convinced this plugin is flawed!!! IT IS WAY TO SENSITIVE. It considers ANY word to be “related”.

Proof: Make a Page and a post with a single letter or word on it in the content area. This will match and be considered a relationship. Even things like this will match:

    Post : “Apples are red”
    Page : “A red cow”

This is not what “related” content is supposed to be — there needs to be some matching criteria, or tagging to refer to the context of the page not just the works – else ANY PAGE and ANY POST can be considered ‘related’ because it matched “RED”.

Joel, as explained in my email, the plugin provides an interface to mySQL’s fulltext matching

    Hi Ajay,

Could you give more details ?
I have same problems than Joel with related posts.
If my post title is “Apple is red” and i’ve got others posts with “red” or “apple” in the title, these posts are tagged as related posts.
But i only want to have related post if title is exactly “Apple is red”.
I’ve got a reader’s blog and i just want to display related posts for same books.
Example : A reader write a post for the book “Misery” from Stephen King, i only want to have as related posts all others posts for this book.

    Thanks for your help.

CRP leverages mySQL’s fulltext engine to find related posts. The engine is good but has its limitations. The biggest is the stop words and minimum word length.

For what you want to achieve, you’ll need to do a lot more to get this to work as it would mean limiting posts with advanced logic. Another option would be to put them in the same category or same set of tags and use my addon plugin to limit the related posts to them.
