• Hello.

When doing bulk edits in the admin interface (like adding/removing tags or categories to/from posts) I’m seeing “Waiting for pixel.wp.com…” in the browser status bar.

I think the only connection to wp.com a self-hosted site has is Jetpack, and was under the impression that pixel.wp.com has to do with the Statistics module – however, even after disabling Jetpack Statistics, I still see the “Waiting for pixel.wp.com…” message doing bulk edits.

I don’t see this message when I’m visiting my site NOT being logged in so it doesn’t seem to be a general problem, but while I’m logged in, things seem to get slowed down quite a bit, waiting for pixel.wp.com…

    Any clues?

    Thanks
    Alexander.

You’re right, this probably shouldn’t happen.

Could you contact us via this form, so we can run some tests with you on your site?

    Hello Jeremy,

sorry for the late response – after your reply the problem went mostly away somehow. ?? I’ve been on the lookout but so far it hasn’t come back (this will undoubtedly change now that I’m writing this;-).

If I’m seeing these delays again I’ll contact you through the support form.

    Thanks
    Alexander.

    Thanks

Seems that I’ve the same problem. Is a general solution available?

Hello @frankeck – unfortunately, I haven’t found a solution with Jetpack support. It was some kind of network issue at my end and I ended up blocking pixel.wp.com via my ad blocker. Not great, but it takes care of the problem…

My admin dashboard seems to get hung up a lot on pixel.wp.com as well. Any solutions in the past 6 months?

Having the same issues here. Whatever it is, pixel.wp.com is SLOW.

i dont understand why this topic is addressed offline in separate support form. I’m sure there is a reason but i’m having what might be similar issues and would be nice to see your finding here.
hopefully you’ll update this thread with something for the rest of us.
    thank you.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

@fdecicco These issues are often linked to connection troubles between your home internet connection, your ISP, and the WordPress.com servers. To confirm that we need to run traceroutes between your home and WordPress.com servers.

I would not recommend posting traceroutes here on public forums unless you feel comfortable sharing your home IP address with everyone, which is why I would recommend that you contact us privately about this. We’ll walk you through the problem and see how we can fix it!

    Thank you!
