Customise panel keeps refreshing page

  • I have just updated a WP site from 4.0 to 4.5.3 and noticed that, when in the customise panel, the preview page keeps reloading every second or so. All works OK, but it indicates that there might be a problem.

    It still happened if I:
    – Deactivated all plug-ins
    – Deactivated my child theme (Coraline 1.5.2)
    – Changed the theme to a default one such as Twenty Twelve

    Investigation showed that the problem only occurs if I use the standard WP facility to password-protect a page and include that page in the menu.
    Once I removed password-protection from the pages all was OK again.
    Has anyone else come across this?

    Hey,
    I have the same problem with two wordpress projects that use different themes (OnePress and buntu). I found out that the reloading stuff started after I installed/activated qTranslate. It seems that the customize panel cannot handle the languages? It also shows the [:en]xxxx[:de]xxxx[:]… syntax instead of the text of the chosen or default language.
    Hope that helps – it is really annoying for my clients if the panel reloads the whole time ??
