What happens when you try to add and activate a new theme via Appearance -> Themes -> Add New in your site’s Dashboard?

There is no way to attach screenshots here, but you can still upload one to your site in such a way that you can provide a public URL here.

    1. Upload the screenshot via Media -> Add New in your blog’s Dashboard: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Uploading_Files#To_Upload_a_File_for_Later_Use

    2. Click on the file in the Media library.

    3. Copy the File URL to the right.

    4. Reply here with the File URL.

Text in this case doesn’t provide any context. Please take an image screenshot, then upload and provide it here following the previous steps.

Here’s how to take an image screenshot: https://www.take-a-screenshot.org/

    Hi,

I believe I have run into the same problem this person ran into. Godaddy/Wordpress attempts to streamline the process in creating a website, by prompting you to select a theme, during the set up process. The person is unable to upload a screenshot, because he/she was still in the set up process. The set-up steps are as follows: start > settings > contact > theme. In this part of the process it says, “Choose a design for your website (don’t worry, you can change this later)” A couple of options are displayed of possible themes, but they have loaded incorrectly. Half of the screen gets cut off. I’ve tried multiple browsers, so I know it’s my internet settings. We are unable to get into the wordpress interface where you can select themes.

-Update- I was able to bypass WordPress’s default set-up protocol by clicking clicking “No Thanks” when it wanted me to run a “set up wizard”. It took me directly to the dashboard, thus allowing me to skip the broken page that did not allow me to select a theme. The process that it takes you through can easily be achieved once in the dashboard.

I wish I could do as mundomando did, but having accepted the option to run a setup wizard it will now not take me to anywhere except the “choose a theme” page. From there I can see a mumber of options, but whatever I click and whatever I do nothing happens. I can’t get through to the next stage.

You can get out of the “Select a theme” trap by doing the following.

You will that when you attempt to configure wordpress you’re stuck on a page that the URL looks like:
    https://www.mysitename.com/wp-admin/?page=wpem&step=theme

    erase everything after the &
    and load

    https://www.mysitename.com/wp-admin/?page=wpem

It will then put you on a screen that offers to set things up for you. select NO THANKS to that and confirm you want to set up wordpress yourself and then it will dump you into a normal dashboard.

@flyingron thank you. Your suggestion worked for me. On step 4, I was not presented with any themes…

    Abel
