    Dear support,

I would like to try WPGlobus to make my site multilingual. I have been using another plug in but it is giving lots of issues with portfolio pages and there is hardly author support.

Before I run WPGlobus, I would appreciate to how:

    – to link existing pages as e.g posts or portfolio available in two languages. ‘
    – How easy is it to migrate from e.g. Polylang to WPGlobus?

    Many thanks!

  • Dear Fabrizio,

Polylang and WPGlobus use very different approaches. So far, I’ve never heard of any automatic migration script. I believe, writing it is possible if there are hundreds of pages to convert.

Now, speaking of Portfolio. In general, WPGlobus works with any Custom Post Types, so it should allow translating the Portfolio pages. However, you should try everything on a new test site before touching the existing one.

    Thank you!

Thanks for your message Gregory. I will surely test before running the plug in on my site. One thing it is yet unclear is whether I can connect existing pages for instance English and Dutch with your plug in.

The main language will probably be preserved. The other languages, I afraid, need to be copied manually.

What happens with your current site if you deactivate Polylang? Will you still see all the pages in all languages, but disconnected? Or you will see only one language?

Well polylang kinda messed up my site. It is deactivated now and managed to put things together. Pages are all disconnected as far as I can see. The site is fabriziophotos.com

Is that the “Virtue” theme? I remember checking it about a year ago, and I do not recall any problems. I hope, WPGlobus will work well for you.

P.S. Nice photos! Love the interior one with green light.

Thanks Gregory for your answer and compliments :o). Yes it is the Virtue theme. So in brief, my home work is to take all the NL pages and copy/paste them manually, correct?

I started to put my hands on the site with your plug in and just noticed that PageBuilder is not available in the second language tab (Duth in my case). Would you know why? and how to fix it?

Is it a part of the theme?
The only builder that works well with WPGlobus is Visual Composer. All others – sometimes it’s possible to make one version, switch to HTML, copy and then edit the texts, keeping the layout. But not always. For example, the builder from Elegant themes is not compatible at all.
