Yes, I trashed the post and also deleted it permanently from the Trash section.

Try going to settings > permalinks and just hitting save

then edit the post get rid of the -2 and save.

What option do I select or what changes should I make before hitting “save” so that I could edit the particular post’s permalink? Thanks!!

All you need to do is visit the page to refresh the permalinks. Structure doesn’t matter.

If you create a post while a post with the same slug is in the trash, it will add the ‘-2’, but once you’ve emptied the trash it won’t remove the -2 for you. You’ll need to do that manually.
