cycle links for WP gallery

I have next and previous links set up to click through images in a WP native gallery, using <?php previous_image_link () ?> which works fine, but of course the links disappear on the first and last image in each gallery.

Is there a way to recode so that the links remain on the first and last images in the gallery, enabling users to cycle through infinitely?
