I was doing some testing on my site earlier and found that the calendar widget and shortcode both seem to pull Events posts that are set as ‘draft’ rather than ‘publish’. It also seems to pull posts set to ‘private’. I haven’t checked lists or any other format. It seems that the plugin should respect post_status setting and only pull ‘publish’ or, at least, there should be some other way that we can keep posts from pulling to the calendar before they are ready.

On a similar topic, I’ve noticed that events imported via ics files automatically publish. If the calendar and lists don’t respect post status then it really doesn’t matter, but it would be nice if we could set imported events to come in as drafts so that we can have a chance to add venues and categories before they go live.

    Hi eresame,

Only published events should appear on the front-end. Having just tested the calendar widget, I suspect this might be an issue specific to your site, but I’m happy to help investigate this further. It might be worth first deactivating other plug-ins, and clearing the cache (you can do this by editing an event). If there’s still an issue, you may also want to try the theme.

As for importing ics, the plugin uses the iCal status of the event to determine whether to publish it or set it to draft (TENTATIVE = draft). If you are using the iCal sync extension you can actually over-ride that by importing events automatically and assigning them a given status.

You were right about it being a caching issue. I couldn’t replicate the issue on another site and then I found that I had a caching plugin that I thought that I’d gotten rid of still active.

And thanks for the iCal status info. However, since I’m importing ics files from another calendar system in which the events area already active. Once I bring them into Event Organizer, I have to set a venue and categories, so it would be an incredibly useful feature to be able to set the post status for imported files either when importing or as a global rule for all imports.

It’s possible to do this with the iCal sync extension. It routine pulls in events from a feed an allows you to configure a post status.

With the manual one-off-import, there is no such option (yet at least).

I’ll look into workarounds using the iCal sync extension. Thanks, again!
