wp-login will not show

    I maintain a multi-site environment. Last Wednesday, all of a sudden, WordPress just went blank and stopped working. It was a 500 error. I deactivated a plugin and got the domain front page to come up. I did some more trouble shooting and was able to get the rest of the sites (sub directories) to come up. However, one problem still remains: No one can log in.

    Everyone logs in from the main front page. They click on a green button that takes them to the wp-login.php page so they can add their username and password. However, once they click on the green button or the “here” like under it if the button doesn’t work, the browser says “This site can’t be reached” and that my website “refused to connect”. It also says err_connection_refused. My website is blogs.fcps.net if you want to try it out.

    The wp-admin.php page doesn’t serve either.

    HELP PLEASE! ??

    First, it would appear that your /wp-admin login actually works, i.e. https://blogs.fcps.net/wp-admin.

    It would also appear that when you go to https://blogs.fcps.net/wp-login.php you’re redirected to a different login page, which you can see readily when you view the source of both pages. So if I had a guess, it would be that you have some sort of login plugin in place. Perhaps try deactivating that, as it seems you have sufficient privileges to be able to do so.

    Also, if I’m correct that you do indeed have sufficient privileges, you might wish to consult error logs to see what errors are being thrown. Lastly, if you can put a maintenance page up, open wp-config.php, & change wp-debug to ‘True’, this might also help you troubleshoot any errors which may be occurring. I don’t think I need to remind you of the security risks inherent in that, so obviously change that as quickly as possible back to its default state.

    I don’t even know if these remarks are helpful. Let us know how you get on, though, won’t you?

    Sure! My server tech found that one of the bindings in IIS 7 was not there. I deleted it hoping to fix another problem. He re-added it and now it works.
