    Hi!

Thank you for your message (and for opening a new topic).

I’m not sure if I get what that wouldn’t work though. For example in your page you have a team, vs the other, and the players on it.

Would you mind explaining why this wouldn’t work in your case?

Keep in mind that I’m no tennis expert (although I know the game mechanics, I’m not familiar with how tennis championships work besides the regular tournaments).

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Roch,

    Ok, I’ll do my best.

Team A consist of several players. These players then are assigned a partner to play doubles (doubles team) to play against Team B’s doubles teams.

Team A Doubles Team 1 vs Team B Doubles Team 1
Team A Doubles Team 2 vs Team B Doubles Team 2
    So on and so on…

From what I can tell you can’t have a “team” within in a team. And as it exists right now, each player is assigned a “position” and the doubles team is made up of same position. Now, in order to record the score, you must enter it twice for each team. Total 4 times.

Team A Doubles Team 1 Player 1>Enter Score
Team A Doubles Team 1 Player 2>Enter Score
Team B Doubles Team 1 Player 1>Enter Score
Team B Doubles Team 1 Player 2>Enter Score

Possibly having a “Partner” field so that when you build the roster you only have to select one player for each position, then have an option to select partner from the available Team Players list. By the partner being selected, this would automagically apply the score to the selected partner as well. Thus only have to enter the score twice total and once for each team.

This could be applied to all racquet sports (i.e. Racquetball, Squash, Table Tennis, Pickle-ball, Badminton, etc.)

SportPress currently has separate modules/plug-ins just for golf, baseball, etc. Maybe having a separate module/plugin for “Racquet Sports” would beneficial. In fact I bet you have a TON of installs within the first month.

    Once again, GREAT plugin overall!

    Hi Craig!

    I think I’ve got it.

Forgive me my lack of knowlege, so I’m always trying to translate this to soccer or other sport that I know a little bit better.

In your case at first I thought that just the player lists would work for you. When we have, for example, different age groups inside of a team we use a player list to separate them, and when adding the match we can just pick that player list when it’s relevant (sub-20, sub-23, regular, 60+).

In your case each pair would also need their own separated stats, is that correct? If that’s the case you’d really need the “sub-team” logic there, a way to set a team inside of a team (or assign multiple teams to the same club via categories / taxonomies).

That’s an amazing idea actually. Please consider adding it to our ideasboard: https://tboy.co/ideas

But at the time being some custom code is required indeed.

    Kind Regards,

    Hi Roch,

Yep that’s exactly it. Yes I have already submitted the idea the Ideas Board.

From a “business” standpoint, having this feature would increase usage of your plugin and imagine many Theme Builders would leverage it to build racquet sport leagues web sites.

Hope to see the feature soon.
