Hi, I updated the YOAST SEO to the latest version of 3.4.1, to my big surprise, I found that I can not the description of the store anymore. The Edit Store look like below:

    Description
The description is not prominent by default; however, some themes may show it.

I consider this is a BIG drawback. Is there anyway to make it editable? otherwise, I need to look for other SEO plugin to replace the YOAST SEO.

    Thanks
    -David

I am unable to locate where our plugin would output this message “The description is not prominent by default; however, some themes may show it.” A quick search indicates this is a WordPress core message when editing categories but you indicated you’re editing part of your store.

Does the message appear if you disable Yoast SEO? If so, something else outputs the message.

If not, please elaborate on the issue you’re experiencing including as much detail as possible such as a link to the site in question, the expected outcome, any errors you received, steps to recreate the issue, and, if possible, screenshots. It would also be helpful if we knew what plugin you use for your store as ‘Edit Store’ is not a core option.

Yes. If I disable the Yoast SEO, then I can edit this description field. I believe the “store” is one WordPress category, the theme I used renames it to be “store”.

I can send you a screen shot with the enable/disable Yoast SEO, please let me know your email address.

    Thanks

Same problem here! If I disable the Yoast SEO, I can edit category description in my Woocommerce store, but if it’s enabled, it only says “The description is not prominent by default; however, some themes may show it.” Clients are calling and asking why they can’t edit descriptions so I had to disable Yoast for them.

I agree. the description field is the most important thing for E-commerce sites and similar sites.

This is the bottom line of a functioning web site!

    Please fix this issue ASAP!

Same thing with category edit page. See screenshot https://someimage.com/QUZQ8Uk

The description is disappeared. But when I disable YoastSeo plugin it appears again https://someimage.com/HfJVQfH
I think the problem is in “description” id or css class. Please fix it. Thank you.

@icorp2015 – Thank you for the screenshots. That is indeed strange and doesn’t happen in our test environment. Please try the following:

    1. Disable all plugins
    2. Enable Yoast SEO
    3. Enable WooCommerce but none of the add-ons

Does the description field appears with only these two plugins?

If yes, one of the disabled plugins is conflicting. Please enable one plugin at a time while checking the description field to determine which plugin is conflicting.

If no, please switch to a default theme like Twenty Sixteen and check the description field again.

I have 3 sites with different number of plugins and different themes, only one with Woocommerce. This issue doesn’t depend on Woocommerce. I disabled ALL plugins (except Yoast), including WPML and Jetpack and had same issue. May be it depends on theme. On tested site I use Catch Responsive theme Version: 2.4.2. I switched to Twenty Sixteen theme https://someimage.com/2WBM7hg and got the same issue ?? https://someimage.com/VmAjvqd

So I think the problem is in Yoast SEO plugin.
    My test site is https://multiroomaudioplayer.com/

    Thank you.

I was able to reproduce the issue but only when running a previous version of WordPress. This does not occur when using the current version (4.5.3) of WordPress.

We do not recommend or support using outdated version of WordPress for the reasons covered in this article. Therefore, we’d recommend updating to the latest version of WordPress.

I confirm, it was fixed after WordPress update. Thank you.

I am having the same issue on WordPress v 4.6.1.

If I activate Yoast SEO I’m unable to edit the category description, if I deactivate I am able to edit the category description.

Please could you advise if there is a fix?

    Thank you
