• Hi guys,

I’ve just started looking after a WordPress site for a client, and if I try any of the things in the title of this thread, I get the following error:
‘An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with www.ads-software.com or this server’s configuration.’

On the WordPress Dashboard I’m getting the following error in the news section:
‘WP HTTP Error: 10060: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.’

The site is https://www.asbestosafe.co.uk and I’ve already tried the following solutions from previous threads to help the situation:
    Disabling all plugins
Editing my hosts file with the following line – 72.233.56.139 api.www.ads-software.com
Switching back to a default theme

However, none of these steps have worked. The dashboard also goes very slow, though that’s probably a symptom of this problem.

Could anyone help out with this?

    Bump with more info:

After enabling debug mode in wp-config, I get the following error:

Warning: stream_socket_client() [function.stream-socket-client]: unable to connect to tcp://api.www.ads-software.com:80 (A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond. ) in E:\kunden\homepages\33\d468997241\www\wp-includes\class-http.php on line 1021

Does this mean the problem is with my host server? If so, any idea on what the fix is?

Also for a bit more information, the site’s host server is 1&1 hosting.

hi i am facing the same error. Np idea how to fix this one. Even i disabled all the plugins and tried but nothing worked. Is this issue from wordpress end ?.

Bump as this issue still isn’t resolved.

You’ll probably need to contact your hosts. This appears to be an issue with your server connecting to WordPress’ and could be related to the DNS or security settings of that server.

I’m also having this error and it just started a couple days ago. My server is running an older version of Openssl and I have my hosting company update it. I wonder if WordPress is being stricter on the authentication.
