    Yes it does, but why in the world would you do it that way?

    Actually due to my tests with GTmetrix the plugin slows down the website.

    then you might have something else going on that EWWW is just magnifying. EWWW should never affect the front-end of your site more than 1 or 2 milliseconds unless another plugin is generating images at page load time.

    I’d check this to be sure:
    1. Turn on EWWW’s debug option
    2. wait for 24 hours
    3. On the dashboard browse to Media->Dynamic Image Debugging, and see what it shows.

    If you have a bunch of images with multiple re-optimizations, then you have a problem with another plugin/theme. If you don’t know how to read a trace log, post a couple here via pastebin and I’ll take a look.
