• Hi,
I’ve been using this plugin for a while. But, today i received an email from my Hosting Service Provider (Hostgator) indicating presence of malicious files in my website folders. Snippet of the message i received,

‘As part of our routine monitoring, we have observed that some of the files hosted on this server belonging to mywebsite.com hosted under your account, has some malicious files hosted.
In order to prevent blacklisting of our service with various service providers, we have blocked outbound port 80, 443, 587 and 465 for this domain name as a precautionary measure. Here are the details of the files that were detected to be malicious.’

When i tried to download the file (which was referred in the email) @ /home/abcdef/public_html/mywebsite.com/wp-content/plugins/wp-simple-firewall/resources/spamblacklist.txt, i am not able to delete it and not able to download & understand what is this all about. Can you help me understand if there is anything wrong at my end or is this indication of any hacks or attacks?

I am using Version 5.5.0 of Shield

Yea, they’ve got an automated system in there which is indiscriminate.

You can’t delete it because they’ve probably locked down your access to it. You need to point them to what it is – it is a dictionary of terms used in the comments spam tool. Nothing more than that.

Thanks … So, just let them know and mark it as whitelist? I am wondering on why this was not a concern in the past, but now.

Because they’ve probably put in new “scans” etc. They mean well.
