• Having a problem uploading images with the flash uploader. I am able to use the browser uploader. I tried to work it out with Apple support – after all our investigations, it appears that the problem is with WordPress. For some reason, on my computer only, for this website only (I tried on my computer uploading to a different website, and I asked a friend to try uploading the same image on his computer — both of those worked fine) there is a glitch. WordPress? Can you step up to the plate to resolve it?

  • Flash uploader and browser uploader is not a distinction WordPress makes. Are you uploading to the media library, or a plugin/theme’s own page?

I know some plugins have their own uploaders and have seen some that offer flash vs browser uploaders, but if this is the case the issue would be with the specific plugin.

Flash vs. browser was the only explanation the Apple support tech and I could think of.

I was using WordPress’s native media uploader; see this screenshot: https://prntscr.com/c7a6lf so it was not a plugin problem.

It’s not a problem with my browser as I was able to upload to different websites – including the backend of an different WP website! – without any error.

This is commonly caused by an over-aggressive configuration of your server’s mod_security module. Try asking your hosts about it.

I’ve been working on this website for a while already, and had no problem uploading in the past. Additionally, as I mentioned above, a friend was able to upload the same exact image to my site without a problem.

This problem only began two days ago

Hosts are usually tweaking their server security all of the time. So it’s entirely possible that a change at their end has created this issue for you. Try asking them to have a look for you.

Hmm then why would it have worked for my friend when it wasn’t working for me? I tried, error. He tried not an hour later and it went through. I tried again within a few minutes… and it failed again.

Are you using Godaddy for hosting, by any chance?

Try a different browser, try clearing your cookies (believe it or not, cookies can cause weirdness sometimes).

Already tried it. Tried restarting computer, tried reinstalling OS, tried logging in to my account with a new user.

I would still recommend talking with your host (as per Esmi). They can look and see what’s happening WHILE you are trying to upload the file. If there is a server-side error and it’s HTTP-based, then the Apache Error log should be catching it. Your host will be able to track the error log live and give you more information. This will at least give you something more to determine why the problem is happening.
