0.10.8 WP4.6 – "No featured image set for this post until now"

When you choose a thumbnail and return to the edit page, clicking “Crop Featured Image” returns: No featured image set for this post until now.
If you save as draft, then go back into the post, if you click “Crop Featured Image” – works as it should.
Using newest Chrome and WordPress 4.6
