  • Facebook shares are no longer updating since Facebook shut down the REST API. Mashshare version 3.1.7 is installed and share counts is set to Mashengine. Buzzsumo shows that Facebook shares are increasing, but Mashshare numbers have been static.

    Please follow all the steps described under:
    https://docs.mashshare.net/article/8-shares-are-not-updating-or-not-accurate

    If this does not resolve it please open a support ticket here:

    Thanks for the quick response. I found the source of the problem. The custom field has the following:

    {“total”:14,”buffer”:0,”pinterest”:0,”linkedin”:2,”stumbleupon”:0,”google”:0,”vk”:0,”twitter”:12}

    Note the absence of an entry for facebook. Why is facebook missing from the custom field from this post. Another post in the same blog has the custom field:

    {“total”:239,”pinterest”:0,”linkedin”:1,”buffer”:1,”google”:0,”twitter”:39,”stumbleupon”:0,”facebook_total”:197,”vk”:1}

    How can one post have the facebook_totat and another does not? Note that the difference between these two posts is that one was published before the update to 3.1.7 and the one missing the fb total was published after the update.

    Good catch Christopher,

    I just need one further information. Than i should be able to find the reason.

    In general settings what is the value of the facebook count option? SHARES, Likes or Total?

    My preferred setting is likes + shares + comments, but I also tested shares and that also does not work.

    I’m having the same issue. No facebook shares are being counted for posts. When I view the custom fields there is no “facebook_total” in the attributes. We have the Shares setting to likes + shares + comments.

    Any patch to this?

    Have you followed the steps here?
    https://docs.mashshare.net/article/8-shares-are-not-updating-or-not-accurate

    Is there any cache plugin running?

    (@renehermi)

    I ve forgot:

    Its very important that you switch to MashEngine in general settings. SharedCount.com is shutting down.

    Mashshare shows only 2 shares

    We use Super Cache. Dumping the cache makes no change.

    FB share count is 229 and counting:
    https://graph.facebook.com/?id=https://www.aholyexperience.com/2016/08/when-you-feel-kind-of-ruined-this-one-question-can-change-everything/

    Adding ?mashsb-refresh at the end makes no change.

    Share Count is not refreshed in in the Post Custom fields. There is no “facebook_total” in the attributes
    (perhaps the Heartbeat Control plugin which we have set to 60 seconds is affecting this)

    We use Wordfence for security

    Mashshare Settings:
    Share Counts: MashEngine selected
    Cache Method: refresh while loading
    Cache expiration: 5 minutes
    Facebook count: total: likes+shares+comments
    Execution order: 1000
    Debug: Disable Cache is set to on

    Rene, switching to MashEngine does not resolve the problem. As I have described above, the problem is that facebook is not included in the custom field for articles published after 3.1.7.

    Same here share not show
    this morning (Thailand +7:00) still fine but since afternoon Share number not show at all

    Mashshare 3.1.7

    attapon.tom, what is the value of the custom field for the post with a low share count? Does it look something like this?

    {“total”:14,”buffer”:0,”pinterest”:0,”linkedin”:2,”stumbleupon”:0,”google”:0,”vk”:0,”twitter”:12}

    If there is not entry for facebook, then that is the problem.

    @christopher we have not heard from you back to our latest mail.

    @contemplate and attapon. Please send us a ticket to support [at] mashshare.net

    We need to debug this as we can not reproduce the issue.

    Rene, I responded immediately to your email. It must be in a spam filter. The reason the share count looked correct is because I have been manually updating the total share count in the custom field for the post. There is still a defect in the 3.1.7 release. The problem is related to the missing reference to facebook in the custom field. Unfortunately, I cannot provide the admin username and password for this site. Please contact one of the other members of this thread and see if they can provide access to their account.

    (@renehermi)

    ok than please send us your mashshare settings. You can export them from tools->export. Just send them to support [at] mashshare.net

    Are all your post affected by the issue or only a few?

    > The problem is related to the missing reference to facebook in the custom field.

    Thats the result but not the cause so i still need further information for debugging this. Having the mashshare settings export file from your site should be helpful. It does not contain any sensible data about your site.
