• just tried to install bp pro on a GoDaddy Linux account

all went well until I got to setup…. the pre-setup wizard passed – and then it hung, and crashed the site…

I set php to 5.6 with 128m for memory — routine couldn’t read the memory so I did get the blue message that it was assuming it is 128m and since that is correct and I’ve seen the other threads on here, I don’t think that is a concern.

What is a concern is the hanging and taking down the site — am reporting while waiting a minute for godaddy’s sytem to clear so I can reinstall wp and restore the site – this was new so I didn’t have a backup on here yet but I do have a ocpy of the site of course

help — what should I do about the hanging please Thanks

if it helps, I used the uninstall option for upgrading — this time after the restore puts the older (non pro) version of bp on I am going to delete it completely

or should I back down php to version 5.5?

(yes WP was completely up to date first – I’ve saved bp for last :))

or should I have let it run longer than 5 minutes?

was just reminded that godaddy would not import my backup with all in one wp even thought he site is really small – I think the file times out… so I’m having to upload file then install it from within the file space… is that what we need to do to get bps pro to install on a godaddy linux shared hosting account? And if so, what is the procedure. It will be different than for the plugin because the plugin workaround is to restore the exported copy as if it was a backup via their backup feature.

ok am trying setup wizard again – is it normal to receive this? This is the first time I’ve tried to install a pro version even though I bought the key months ago. It’s hanging again…

Edit: Also that PHP file? That means for some reason your web server is not executing that file and sending it to you instead.

The following file downloaded automatically right after the setup wizard started:

If a php file is being downloaded instead of being processed then that means you are missing php/php.ini handler htaccess code in your root htaccess file or the current php/php.ini handler htaccess code in your root htaccess file is incorrect/invalid.

    https://www.godaddy.com/help/change-file-extension-handlerslanguages-linux-5121

Most likely the correct php/php.ini handler htaccess code for PHP5.6 is:

    # Go Daddy PHP5.6 php/php.ini handler
    AddHandler x-httpd-php5-6 .php

You are going to have to add this Go Daddy PHP5.6 php/php.ini handler htaccess code manually in your root htaccess file since php files are being downloaded instead of being processed.

    1. Use FTP or your web host control panel file manager and rename the /bulletproof-security/ plugin folder to /_bulletproof-security/.
    2. Manually edit your root htaccess file and add the php/php.ini handler htaccess code that I posted above at the very top of your root htaccess file.
    3. Login to your website.
    4. Rename the /_bulletproof-security/ plugin folder back to /bulletproof-security/.
    5. Go to BPS Root Custom Code and add the Go Daddy php/php.ini handler htaccess code in this BPS Custom Code text box: CUSTOM CODE TOP PHP/PHP.INI HANDLER/CACHE CODE
    6. Click the Save Root Custom Code button.
    7. Go to the Security Modes page and click the Root Folder BulletProof Mode Activate button.

In the future please post BPS Pro questions in the BPS Pro forum here: https://forum.ait-pro.com/forums/forum/bulletproof-security-pro/#new-post
