Pretty Permalinks

  • I’m building an eCommerce store that will also have a blog & static pages:

    I want my product URL structure to be as follows:
    https://www.example.com/category/subcategory/product
    I would accept ~/category/product

    I want pages’ URL structure to be as follows:
    https://www.example.com/postname

    I have successfully achieved the ~/category/product, by changing the ‘product-permalinks’ to ‘custom base’ : “/%product_cat%/”.
    However, in doing so, the static pages return a 404.

    I have no PHP experience, so please bear this in mind with your replies. I’ve read I may need to modify a .htaccess file, but haven’t found any forum thread where the OP has the EXACT same problem as mine.
