    no, it’s not hacking your posts. xx.wp.com…. is the WordPress CDN. When you enabled the Photon module of Jetpack, it copied your images there and is serving them from there to reduce the load on your server.

    If you don’t want to use Photon, disable it in Jetpack’s settings.

    Thanks. Turns out that’s set to yes by default when you install Jetpack.

    Does Jetpack copy said images back to my own server if I disable Jetpack or at least Photon???

    Jetpack never removes the image from your server. If you disable photon, then it does not modify the links on your site to use the ones it copied to the wordpress CDN.
