Conflict affecting Editor User Role
-
This is an odd one that you may want to know about.
A long standing install of Mailpoet on a heavily plugin’d woocommerce site suddenly stopped working for Shop Manager and Editor User Roles. To be clear, as an Administrator it still worked.
The Problem
The users could see the Mailpoet menu, when clicking on newsletters they got a white screen of death (WSOD) when using any browser. I as administrator could still use all functions.Fixing it
Having gone through the usual process of removing all plugins and testing each one I identified the “Woo Commerce Order/Customer CSV Export” plugin to be the culprit. I deactivated it and thought it was done, however it meant i could see the newsletter list but clicking to edit one now led to the WSOD issue. Additionally now they could not access woocommerce at all – also a WSOD. In the meantime the administrator user still worked to a degree. I spent a further two days checking PHP and functions without succcess. Changing the configuration of activated and deactivated plugins gleaned no further advances. The Remedy
In my case I found a remedy by giving my shop managers an additional Administrator Role and using ANOTHER plugin (Adminimize – pretty useful and my first use)to remove access to all the unnecessary items in the admin area. Its a work around that works should anyone have the same issue.I’m sharing this in case Mailpoet have seen this before or someone has the same issue. I suspect it is due to this particular combination of site and plugins but just in case i have posted this here for anyone else that may need the work around.
