Problems with IE8

Using version 2.5.3.
Works well on all browsers except IE8 (I don’t know about IE9 as my OS is XP).
Trying to log in and it accepts and displays the user name, however, when I try to enter the password the curser moves without displaying any dots and the login fails without any error message.
I’ve still given it 4 stars as it works with 4 out of 5 browsers.

Ho hum.

Please don’t respond with any technical questions, I’m a complete website novice and all these acronyms are giving me a headache ??

UPDATE: I’ve since tried it on a friend’s laptop using IE9 and that doesn’t work either. It does show the dots when typing in the password but still fails to let me in. Curiously, when I deliberately enter the wrong password it shows the red error message, so it is registering that a password has been entered.
