Use Ajax Reload A Different Query?

Hi Could I use Ajax so when a button is clicked it changes the Query that is displaying my posts, say from cat=”6″ to cat=”7″.
I know how to query my posts, but can I use Ajax to change the query on click, so that the list of posts shown updates without reloading the page?
