How To Show Posts by Event Date

  • I am planning on starting a wordpress on events in my area. I wanted to know if it was possible to arrange posts according to the event date (not the date of the post)? Also I am looking for a calender that will show the upcoming events on the homepage. Is this possible with simple plugins?
