  • You do have a domain, correct? And you do have web hosting? And your domain’s nameservers are pointed where your web host told you to point them, right? And what did you put in the wp-config.php file?

You did create a MySQL database and user, correct? And you also did assign the user to the database? And you uploaded WordPress to your server space via FTP, right?

Whatever your domain name is, here’s how you get to install.php:

If your domain name is mycooldomain.com, then you type this into your browser’s addressbar:
    https://www.mycooldomain.com/wp-admin/install.php

That is assuming you uploaded WordPress to your root directory.

yes i have done everything required and all i get is a 404 error message

Might review Installing WordPress and consider using FileZilla to upload WordPress to a remote host.

Also might check with your host to confirm what your web-root folder really is.
