• The code is not badly written, but this solution requires quite a lot of work for your average publisher / site manager, especially to make it scale. You need to pay for an SSL certificate (and set that up – many hosts charge extra), an Apple Developer License ($99/year), and the infrastructure to manage it all.

With full disclosure that I’m a co-author, I’d really encourage less systems-savvy site managers that don’t want all of that upfront cost to check out PushUp Notifications – and I’d be interested in exploring integration options with this author.

You gave it two stars because you’re trying to sell your paid-for service? Classy.

I gave it 2 stars because I tried helping a couple of people who asked implement this approach (who didn’t want a SaaS solution) and it was painful for them. We built a paid solution because it was actually less costly than this.
