• I am curious how to go about editing a sidebar widget. For instance, I have the meta information in the sidebar, but I want to rename “Meta” to “Login/Register” and I want to remove the RSS feed link

Also would like to rename “Recent Posts” to something else.

I already have made the needed to changes to the appropriate php files which worked when not using widgets, but now that I need to use widgets for NexGen (code isn’t working right without using sidebar NexGen widget) the changes are back to the non-edited information which is telling me basically that they widget information is stored elsewhere

So, where is that elsewhere so I can make my changes?

Thank you so very much ??

  • Yeah! I have the same issue…
I just want to remove the RSS feed link from Meta..but I can’t find the way out.
I just want to keep the admin access and anything else.
I was able to delete those items from the sidebar.php but now I have set some widgets and I found that I just have 2 option…or I use the Meta widget with all that links that I don’t need or I don’t use ANY widget but applying the changes made in sidebar.php…
    I’m being clear enough?
    I hope so…
    Someone could help on this?
    Thank you so much.

Hey Sydney078…I just have found what we need.
In the wp-includes folder exists a file named widgets.php.
Go to edit it and find the “meta” word using some file browser.
Once you find it you will see the options that you don’t need under it word…just delete those 3 lines (I deleted 3 lines) and save the file.
Reload the site and that’s all. (:
I hope that works for you.

@federico-a, thanks! That did the trick.
