Version 4.0.3.8 completely broke wordpress for me.

  • Bummer, I really wanted this to work. It ended up completely messing up my page and post editor, making it so that I couldn’t click on anything other than the WordPress left column menu. The TinyMCE buttons all disappeared too. I also think it’s sort of misleading that the plugin only started on version 4 a few weeks ago, instead of calling it version 1. It’s now at version 4.0.3.8 making it look like it’s been through several rounds of programming. Wrong.

    I would very much like to help you with this issue and resolve it if we can. We’ve tested the plugin as thoroughly as we can in our test environments and haven’t come across the issue you report. Can you confirm whether you receive any error log reports from PHP?

    Regarding the version number, it’s intended to follow the Font Awesome version number so that it’s easy to confirm which version of Font Awesome is supported.

    I’ve spent the last 3 hours troubleshooting based on your feedback and I found that I can reproduce your problem by using PHP version 5.2 or earlier.

    PHP 5.2 reached its end-of-life more than 3 years ago in January, 2011 (https://www.php.net/eol.php). If you’re still running version 5.2 it’s a good idea to upgrade to a newer version, as 5.2 is no longer receiving updates for security or other issues. Upgrading PHP can usually be accomplished using your web host’s control panel, or by contacting your host’s support.

    This plugin requires PHP version 5.3 or newer. I will update the plugin’s description to reflect this requirement.
