Really quite interesting addition

  • Love this simple addition to the dash. At the risk of making it less simple, it would be great to be able to include/exclude pages, custom post types. (Clearly pages are currently included by default, not sure about CPT.)

    Well, the plugin doesn’t count pages by default. It just gets all the posts that are published and sums the word count for each of them.
    Do you think a way for selecting which types of posts and pages are counted would be an interesting feature? I’ll still have to find out how to do that and then I could try ??

    I added this code to my own blog a while ago. And just now decided to turn into a plugin instead of telling a friend to copy and paste the code in her own blog’s functions.php.

    I think the old ones don’t work anymore because the function that displays content in the dashboard has a new name since the new WordPress 3.6 update.

    Anyway, are you enjoying the plugin? I quite like getting to the dashboard and seeing the over 100k word count there. Seems like an achievement, he he.

    Anyway, i seem to attract quite long comments that need quite long replies. It would be nice to know how many words i wrote on comments too ??

    (but don’t consider this a feature request, unless you’d like it to do! ìm fine like this)

    73k words in articles, 93k in comments! 93k! It’s like a book of 300 pages!

    Oh, I just noticed I’m subtracting the author’s comments to the total ones incorrectly. I’ll just fix that quickly
