• I’ve been trying to update to WordPress 2.5.1. My server is Dot5Hosting, and they support WordPress 2.3.3. All files uploaded smoothly except the following five:

    jquery.color.js
    jquery.dimensions.min.js
    jquery.form.js
    jquery.schedule.js
    ui.tabs.js

    PATH: wp-includes/js/jquery

When I try to upload these files from my FTP client (Cyberduck), I get the following error: “Permission denied”

When I try to upload using vDeck, I get this error message:

For security reasons, only files of type ‘asp aspx bas cfm cgi css csv doc dwf gif gz htm html ico inc jpeg jpg js mdb pdf php php3 php4 php5 pl pm png ppt py shtm shtml sql swf tar txt wav wmv xls xml zip’ can be uploaded

I can upload the files my renaming them: example, jquery.color.js renamed to jquery_color.js. But, when I try to revert to the original file name, I get another error message:

You cannot rename a file with this name. (.)
You must rename the file so that you use only letters of the alphabet and/or numbers. No spaces or other characters are allowed

I have contacted the support team, and they don’t seem to know how to resolve the problem.

I’ve explained the problem to the support team just as I’ve explained it here, yet they keep interpreting this as a simple “can’t upload a file” problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I received a reply from Dot5Hosting. They say the file name is the issue…duh. I know just enough about coding to get myself in trouble. I assume that changing the file name is a bad thing unless I know what the files do and how they interact with other files. Since I don’t know these things, changing the file names aren’t an option.

    Any suggestions? Please.

    Get a decent host?

    My thought, exactly.
