• Why the @#$@$ does the wordpress blog recommend this tool for trying out the RC for 4.1??
It gives me two choices.. point releases (which re-installed 4.0.1) or bleeding edge which gave me 4.2alpha.
Besides the tool hasn’t been updated since 3.8.3 which doesn’t really give the feeling that it’s on top of things..

WHAT it does it does wel, that is, install versions other than the latest stable, but the usefulness for checking my plugins under the latest RC is lacking..

  • I’ve been using this plugin for over 1 1/2 years. It’s great and frustrating at the same time. It evidently sets a code setting that cannot be reversed or undone by simply disabling and uninstalling the plugin.

With the plugin both DISABLED and UNINSTALLED right before a new public release of WordPress comes out, remnant settings of the plugin (that you cannot get rid of) automatically roll over your installation to the next Alpha version using Automatic Updates. THEN, the Core Developers delay adding version numbers to the initial Alpha ticket changes meaning the user is stuck for an unspecified period of time with an un-updated alpha version of WordPress.

This plugin could be improved by making sure that the “Disable” option actually works, AND/OR adding an “UNDO” option that actually works. Congruence with Automatic Updates using this plugin https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/automatic-updater/ or any of its future competitors would also be most helpful.
