• I have been using UpdraftPlus on every build that I have done for a while now. Honestly, other than seeing the new file in Dropbox (integration while logged in to your account is so sweet by the way, hands free!), I didn’t know if it would even work. The “backup” is there, but what the hell do I do with it?

Tonight, I found out, the SCARY way! I may have gotten a little overly confident that my theme from a well vetted company would work with the new WordPress build (4.1). Sooo, I haphazardly updated the whole enchilada in one shot. Of course I did have a fresh, trusty backup in the ole’ Dropbox. I refreshed my page after a successful batch of updates. The only thing visible on a new client’s site, that I just pitched on social media, was the background. Source code revealed that the main body of the page cut off after the main container. I suppose it could be a coding error in the header file on my part. Don’t know yet, but why would it work with an earlier version of the (parent/child) theme?

Regardless, I freaked!!! I quickly requested any input from the theme creator (haven’t heard, only half hour ago). I scanned my code to look for a break. I am not a php expert, nor a WordPress loop expert. Fortunately enough, the creator of this plugin must ROCK at both. I went into the plugin (backend was functional, no public facing site) and clicked restore….VOILA! Back in action with a “solid” inkling as to the culprit. Never will I build another installation of WordPress for myself, or a client, without this plugin! Thank you for your ongoing efforts.
