Roy – We appreciate the honest feedback.
We have had a few hiccups along the way, but this stuff is going to happen when you’re completely rewriting a plugin that hasn’t been updated for a couple years.
With the Google API changes the old plugin will also not work either.
It looks like we’ve been addressing some of your issues here in this forum thread, though I’m not sure at this point if we’ve resolved your particular problem.

In any case, if the plugin is working for you within reason and we’ve fixed what we can in our plugin, we’d appreciate a review revision that reflects your experience after going through the support forum.
