• This is what I wrote in the monthly website report to the Root Seekers Genealogical Society about Postmatic:

“Now, I want to brag about our Postmatic Subscription program. There are many things about the internet to which I object. One is the invasiveness of the internet. Two or three times a day, I go through my emails and go down the list throwing away those that I know I don’t want to read. And one of those are invitations to do “this or that.” In the past, I have sent out notices that we have added something or we have changed something on the website. No longer will we be sending those.

“We will invite you, if we have not already, to subscribe to the Root Seekers’ website. In order to do so, YOU must reply to the invitation and “agree” to it.

“Postmatic maintains a list of email addresses we have invited and those people should not get another one.

“If you do not wish to subscribe at this time or if you have not been invited to subscribe yet, and decide you do want to do so later, there is a place to do that on the right side of the website under the Search box for you to do it. Also, if you forget whether you have subscribed, there is a note there that you have done so.

“Again, if you subscribe without an invitation, because we maintain your email address, you will not be bothered with an invitation. We are trying to cut down on bothering people with a lot of emails they do not want.

“What happens if you subscribe? When we add something to the website, you are notified. If you click on the notification, you will be taken to the item that was added.

“One last thing, if you want to “unsubscibe,” you simply click on the box on the right hand side of the page that says, “unsubscribe” and you will IMMEDIATELY be taken off our list. No waiting two or three days. It is done immediately.”

We appreciate hearing about the experiences of those using Postmatic on their blogs – thank you for taking the time to write a review.

We try to make blog subscriptions easy and painless. As you’ve mentioned, only those who want to hear from you will receive your updates – that’s why we have a double opt-in process for subscriptions.

Thanks for being a beta tester!
