Multiple Excerpts

  • I apologize if this is an easy solution, I’ve been searching the forum for hours with no luck.

    I want to set up my tag page (and category) to show 5 excerpts regarding the tag/category clicked followed by the next or previous link. I currently have the main index of my blog showing a full post so I’m a little confused as to how to accomplish this. I have no problems showing the one excerpt but was hoping someone knew how to display more then one.

    Ill try this again and try to make it clearer

    Index Page: This currently is set in the admin options to display just one post which it does on my opening page.

    Category/Tag Page: Essentially I want the 5 latest posts with only its excerpts showing following by the previous/next link. Im needing help on how (if its possible) to display the 5 most recent posts related to either the current category or tag without changing it in teh admin interface because that will screw up my main page.

    When you set things up for one post per page, it’s one post per page on the index, archives, search results, etc., so I guess there is no easy sollution. I suppose it’s possible if you hardcode the number of posts in the index.php, archive.php, etc., but I’m not the person to talk you through that. There are several threads about limiting the number of posts displayed using PHP, so perhaps you can light your candle in such threads.

    Ok thanks, Ill check some out, I could understand using a loop I just dont know how it would effect or work it into such things as the previous/next link.

    CQS = custom query string plugin is the easy solution.
    (my name > downloads…)
