• Sometimes I am forced to use Visual Composer. One great feature it provides is the Shortcodes UI built in. You can create shortcodes as normal in your code and then register a UI for them using the Visual Composer backend.

Shortcake does this as well. Currently using simple arrays within the code to build out the UI for a shortcode. I see this plugin expanding and providing more complex field types (repeaters for tabs for example). I am loving it so far. Its the perfect plugin for developers that do a lot of custom theme development.

I don’t always use shortcodes, but when I do they’re enhanced with Shortcake…

Thanks for the review! What still needs work from your perspective?

More fields and a field builder for the less programmatically inclined. Fields for creating repeated elements.

    More fields

Any particular fields you’d like to see?

a field builder for the less programmatically inclined.

Probably won’t ever happen with the main plugin, but it could be a supplemental plugin or dedicated website.

    Fields for creating repeated elements.

    What’s the use case?

    Agreed on the field builder.

A repeater field would be for making an element with X number of parts to it. Like tabs for example.

Makes sense. I’ve filed this in our backlog.

I would settle for examples of how to use the fields that exist already! ?? the only example is the one is Usage which shows simple text and textarea types – or am I missing something? I’m trying to implement some radio buttons for a true/false type field.

I do love Shortcake, though – thanks!
