Lightweight Solution for Brute Force Website Attacks

Login Lockdown is very effective at shutting down the most common type of attack on WordPress sites: a brute force attack using dictionary lists.
This free plugin effectively limits the number of attempts any one IP address can try to log in to your site. It will shut down automated attacks on your site because they rely on thousands of attempts to guess your password. It won’t protect you from someone who already knows your password (think ex-employees or purchased password lists), but there are other ways to protect against those issues.
