how to insert a banner

  • it’s really quite simple, just make your header graphic and then upload it to that particular theme, image folder and change the stylesheet to the name of your header (which is usually header.gif, or header.jpg

    here is an example of my stylesheet for my theme i am using:

    #header-image {
    background-image:url(‘images/header.gif’);
    background-color: #F7EEDB;
    border: 0px solid #000000;
    height: 200px;
    width: 946px;
    }

    Ok, I looked through my files and I don’t have an image folder in the main section. I do have an image folder wihtin another folder. It is in the wp-includes folder. So would I put it in that image folder and do-

    #header-image {
    background-image:url(‘wp-includes/images/header.gif’);
    background-color: #000;
    border: 0px solid #000000;
    height: 200px;
    width: 760px;
    }

    Also I don’t have a style sheet in my files, just the one under design on the wordpress admin. Is that the one I edit?

    Notice the banner image is “above” the area it needs to be in. We tried your method and nothing would happen. The only way I could get the image to show up at all is to edit the “Header.PHP” file.

    Well it is somewhat working lol. Still not right.

    Yay! Got it. Had to replace the #header in the CSS sheet with this-

    #header {
    background-color: #000;
    border: 0px solid #000000;
    height: 200px;
    width: 760px;
    background-image: url(https://guildvanaheim.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/guildbanner31.jpg);
