Easy mode instal, now problems
-
How can I either:
Find the wordpress files after an easy mode install in dreamhost.com
(they are nowhere to be found).Export my blog’s content braking into separate files (less than 8 MB) so that I can import them to a new wordpress installation. The limit for import is 8MB.
Other, any ideas?
Please read bellow.
Last month we made an “easy mode” install of wordpress.
After several weeks of running the blog we needed to be able to manage the blog’s files/folders to: add external pages with forms, change theme and modify it, and more.
The easy mode install put the wordpress files somewhere (we are hosting the blog with dreamhost.com) in such a way that they can not be accessed, not even seen.
To be able move the blog to our domain ftp account and thus being able to see and acces the files, I have to (according to dreamhost.com) backup or copy the blog files, uninstall wordpress make a new “advance installation” and then import the files from the uninstalled or old wordpress version to the new one.
So far so good but:
Before attempting to do anything with my live blog I installed wordpres in a different hosting company that I also use so I didn’t mess-up the databasess etc.(this time the installation was perfect, no easy mode or anything like that and the file are totally accessible with via FTP)
Then, I exported my “live”blog files following the www.ads-software.com tutorials. When I tried to import the wordpres xml file with the content of my live blog I read in the importing screen that files can not be larger than 8 MB; my file is 26.3 MB. Needless to say that that didn’t work.
Now I am totally in need of help.
Sorry for the long post.
Thank you so much.
