• First off, I’m still a relative newbie at the whole blogging thing. My site was working fine until recently. I can’t access my wp-admin page, although I can access the databases and such with cPanel. I’m getting 2 errors, though both start out with the same path (just the file name is different)

Cache unable to open file for writing: /home/yourgame/public_html/wp-content/plugins/wp-autoblog/cache/ebf9c99044dddbebf9e95d7c1516817a

Should I go in to the tables via phpMyAdmin and delete the rss-gibberish entries?

I’d like to find out what this error is and how to fix it; the hosting service I have is less than stellar and I’d like to move my site (any recommendations?). Thanks for you help!

  • Have you tried removing the wp-autoblog plugin using FTP? You should probably remove the plugin either way, auto-blogging is border line pure evil. Unless, of course, you are the 1 in a million guy who is using it legitimately ??

Thanks…I’ll try that. I don’t want to be evil! ??

Ok, got rid of the wp-autoblog plugin; still can’t get to the wp-admin screen. Got anything else I can try?

still can’t get to the wp-admin screen

thats not enough info .. is there an error message?

Nope, just a blank, white screen.

I’m a Newbie too – but I can log into my admin section using Firefox, but when I try to log into admin in Internet Explorer I get redirected to https://newbiesdiary.com/blog/wp-login.php?redirect_to=%2Fblog%2Fwp-admin%2F
So my suggestion would be to give Firefox a try if you havent already.

are you able to get to /wp-login.php ? When you get the white screen what does the URL in your address bar?

Check your permalink structure and your .htaccess file for any weirdness.

I tried the wp-login.php too–nothing there. It takes me to a blank page with the correct URL in the address bar. If it just gave me ANY sort of error code, that would be nice….

I’ve been backing up the site, so I guess I could try to restore it that way (unless anyone has any other ideas……)

What about rebuilding the site (but preserving the SQL databases)? I’ve been thinking about revamping it anyway.

    Thanks for all your help!!

Do you have a link to your blog?

    https://yourgamezone.com

FYI: I took over this site; I did not build it (though I’m ready to start over with it)

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!!

I get a stalled load. Perpetually waiting for the server to respond with no error. (ie…waiting for yourgamezone.com…).

    Have a look here;

I think I would contact GoDaddy or the domain owner. I don’t think (this particular behavior) is a WordPress issue. You can find more complete registrant data on the last link at the bottom of the page.

    I own the domain. ??

I haven’t received notification from the hosting service that they’ve had server problems or changed their configuration–then again, they’ve done it before and never said anything. What gets me is that I can use cPanel to see the databases and I can send myself test e-mails, but the darn thing just won’t load.

I’ll check with the hosting service–maybe something weird is going on over there. Thanks!

Stranger things have happened. If you get the server issue sorted and still have the WordPress errors, check back in…
    good luck!
    ??

I’m unable to login to my wp-admin page as well, however, these steps do not resolve my issue … I goofed somewhere. I keep getting this message:

Error 500 – Internal server error

An internal server error has occured!
    Please try again later.

It happened all of a sudden when I updated the URL in my User Profile from https://www.msbunn.com to https://www.msbunn.com/archives-all. Help!
