Flowplayer logo black background

  • As well as looking unprofessional because of the Flowplayer logo looking really obtrusive, the actual video only fills about 60% of the player window, the rest is just black background. Not sure why but I as unable to change that. My mp4 video has no black background and fills the whole screen when using the WP built-in player.
    I was looking for something that worked and looked a bit better than the WP video player, but this is actually worse. Why would anyone choose this over the default player? Quickly uninstalled, only gets 2 stars because I suppose it works – it just doesn’t look good at all. Sorry.

    The background is black because you haven’t specified the correct aspect ratio of your video in the shortcode.

    Just because you don’t like a plugin doesn’t mean it’s bad. It has 10k+ active installs so far. And since you have already uninstalled the plugin why even bother giving it a bad rating with rude comments?

    This plugin was released way before the video feature was added to WordPress. If you didn’t like the style you could always install a different plugin you know. Nobody was forcing you to use this one plugin.

    My comments are not rude at all, I think they are fair given the experience I had of this plugin. This is the whole point of reviews, to help other people make a decision BEFORE they install a plugin and go to the trouble of trying to customise it for their needs. In my case I found the plugin to be a waste of my time for all the reasons I described. As a developer you should accept criticism and thank users for it, even when it’s bad, then try to use it constructively to improve your product, instead of being resentful about it: that’s just unprofessional. If a plugin has effectively become obsolete because there are better solutions out there (including the built-in WP player) then I have every right to point this out to other users – sorry if you don’t agree with that but that’s the way it works.
