Problem with WP address not equal to Blog address

  • I have a working install of one of my blogs in a subdirectory of my domain. (ie. “domain.com/lwa”)

    I now finally want to keep the WP installation in the subdirectory (domain.com/lwa), and change the blog address to the domain name (ie. domain.com).

    I have gone through the recommended procedure now multiple times (moving index.php & .htaccess one level up; changing the paths etc.), BUT the result each time is: instead of the blog opening at the domain.com, a faulty address is generated called domain.com/index.html

    I tried moving the entire installation up to base domain level, rebuilt permalinks, changed the addresses etc., but got a Loop Warning, and couldn’t view anything, because it defaulted always to domain.com/index.html

    I am sure I am missing something stupid… can anyone guide me?
