• About a week ago something went wrong with my theme and now my homepage shows up all messed up.

All of the sidebar widgets are stuck at the very bottom and the white background that should surround my text is gone.

I didn’t notice for a while because I had a bunch of posts written and on auto-post mode. Could this have been part of the problem?

I have already completely erased my wordpress and re-installed but it didn’t help. I know its just some small problem with the code but I can’t figure out what it is.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Does anybody have a suggestion?

Similar thing happened to my site about a week or so ago. The site opens and then seems to blink. It then looks like the title box is offset to the post page. And all of the sidebar information is gone. I thought it might be because I added some code for adsense to the theme code but I deactivated that and my site is still broken.

    Rebtl, your site doesn’t load.

My site loads now kohaku, I woke up this morning to an email from my host saying that they had massive power outages. It should be back up now if anyone knows how I might fix is.

The first thing that comes to mind is that your content area is too big to allow the sidebar to fit next to it.

The second thing that comes to mind is a tag that hasn’t properly been closed, but I didn’t see any evidence of that.

Lastly, you might want to check your CSS to make sure all the properties are properly closed.

Well I looked through the CSS and I didn’t see anything that seemed to be wrong, not that I really know what I’m looking for.

I also don’t know if it could be that my content is too wide be no other pages on my site, including previous entry pages, are having this problem.

According to the W3 HTML validator, your content area isn’t properly closed.

    Maybe that’s the issue?

    Thread Starter 750650

    I’ll look into that.

Thanks a ton for that HTML Validator tool! that will help me more than anything in the long run.

    You’re welcome.

    Thread Starter 750650

Yea I managed to fix all of the errors that were showing up with the validator tool and still my page looks like that.

I have no idea what to try

I’m looking at your site with Firebug (it’s a FF extension) and it’s telling me that the <div> for your sidebars isn’t there, though the code shows it.

It’s displays as nested underneath your last post. Which is terribly odd.

    Thread Starter 750650

ok i will download that extension and see what I can do
Thanks again for all your help

    No problem.

    Thread Starter 750650

So the W3 tools keeps telling me that I have open div tags, so I close them, and then it tells me I have no xhtml errors on the page, but it still looks like that.

I tried to go through the firebug and figure out what was wrong but its way above my head.

    Anybody have any suggestions?

    Could you post your index.php?
