• Can anyone either tell me about or point me to existing documatation regarding upgrading from 2.0 (specifically 2.0.2) to 2.6? My concerns are:

    – Will me theme still work? There is a lot of customization that I’d hate to lose

    – Will plug ins still be installed and work normally?

    – Should I back up files? If so, which ones?

I’m nervous about upgrading but would like to take advantage of the new WordPress iPhone app and would need to upgrade to do so.

  • I did it… My theme is the same, but I lost my categories. You can edit them by goign directly to the url for editing a specific cat (search these forums for more). Also, make sure you take note of deleting the COLLATE and UTF-8 line from the config.php. Otherwise, you’ll get all kinds of characters in your posts. Also, TinyMCE doesn’t seem to be working — haven’t figured that one out yet.

And of course, I also can’t post (but I couldn’t before I updated either… it’s why I updated in the first place). Good luck!

I’d suggest going via 2.3 as a intermediate step. It seemed the most stable route that I found.

You should back up all your content files, and your database.

To take full advantage of the new features you’d need to modify your wp-config during the upgrade.
