My website is slow despite OK analysis results.

  • I am hosting a website on HostGator. The website has some images, banners, etc.

    I used everything I know to make it fast (cache, gzip and everything in between).

    However, it seems to be quite slow.

    Whenever I ask someone why the website is slow, they analyze it through gtmetrix and tell me to look at those signals.

    After testing my website with gtmetrix, I also analyzed some big magazine websites – big names, etc. Some scored way below my website and yet, they do seem to work faster.

    Is it because of the server / hosting “plan”, etc.?

    I am always searching for ways to improve the performance of my website and I kind of did everything I could.

  • Can you link your site so we can inspect further?
    Are you on a shared hosting plan?

    Deactivate all your plugins and switch to a standard theme like “twenty …”.

    If problem resolved, re-activate plugins back on; one at a time to see which one is the culprit.
