litespeed webserver

Hello,
I am trying to use this Spider Blocker plugin with a new hosting company but when I try to activate the plugin I get this error message:
This plugin requires Apache2 server with mod_rewrite support. Please contact your hosting provider about upgrading your server software. Your Apache version is

I have contacted their support desk and this was the response they gave me:
We are using litespeed webserver and Mod_rewrite supports fine with litespeed. I’m not sure about the plugin but you may need to check with plugin vendor if they have some setup for litespeed webserver

So am I out of luck with this hosting company?

Or is there something you can suggest since?
